- Come Thou Fount

Call to Worship

This is the day that the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Save us, we pray, O LORD!
O LORD, we pray, give us success!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!
We bless you from the house of the LORD.
The LORD is God,
and he has made his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
up to the horns of the altar!
(Psalm 118:24-27 ESV)

- On Christ the Solid Rock
- In My Place

(Classes for kids 3 and under during the sermon)

Consecration

Scripture Reading – Mark 15:1-39

Sermon – Jesus Christ Crucified

To help us grasp some of the gruesome realities of what Jesus experienced I want us to walk through the events of the cross step by step. Along the way we will explore: What happened to Jesus physically, emotionally, and spiritually? Why was it necessary? What is the good news of the cross?

Pastoral Prayer

-I Stand Amazed
-In Christ Alone

Confession of Faith

We believe Jesus is the stone
the builders rejected him,
yet God made him the cornerstone.
There is salvation in no one else,
for there is no other name
under heaven
given among men
by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:11-12)

Communion

Scripture Reading — Isaiah 52:13-53:12

Behold, my servant shall act wisely;
he shall be high and lifted up,
and shall be exalted.
As many were astonished at you—
his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance,
and his form beyond that of the children of mankind—
so shall he sprinkle many nations;
kings shall shut their mouths because of him;
for that which has not been told them they see,
and that which they have not heard they understand.
Who has believed what he has heard from us?
And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
(Isaiah 52:13-53:1 ESV)

[Interlude]

Gifts and Offerings – Prayer of Thanksgiving for God’s Blessings

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 4:10-11 ESV)

Commission

May the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 5:10-11 ESV)
